John Mayer happens to be one of the most interesting people I have ever listened to. I first fell in love with his style of music artistry ever since I heard his single, Your Body is a Wonderland, and I have been passively following his career ever since. His ability to experiment with different sounds, his song writing and his ability to play a few musical instruments make him even more appealing, there is a certain charm to his music that makes him attractive to listen to.
Born and Raised is a mature new album, where we see Mayer experiment with folk and Americana like sounds. He delivers his charming vocals over beautifully written lyrics on songs like The Age of Worry, Shadow Days and the title track Born and Raised. Where this album stands out are on Love Is a Verb and Walt Grace's Submarine Test, January 1967.
John Mayer has suffered throat-related problems which has prevented him from touring and promoting this album. All I can say is that I hope he recovers just in time because he is too much of a musical genius for him to remain silent, just like Adele I hope he bounces back to become an even better performer. Born and Raised is very different musically but it is an album to enjoy.
