Its still feels like yesterday when Alexandra Burke triumphed as the winner of X-Factor UK 2008, a stint that catapulted her into pop superstardom. After the success of her debut album and its re-release, which won her number one records all over Europe, the pop siren returns with her brand new album, a blend of electric pop and dance anthems about love, heartache and living life.
The album opens up with the album titled track, a fist pumping track that would definitely resonate with her numerous fans, especially the ones that have just come out of relationships and are deciding to move on. The albums first single, Elephant (Featuring Erick Morillo) is a soul-piercing dancefloor track that has potential to be a crossover hit in America, it's follow-up Let It Go is equally an excellent dancefloor filler that would surely have the clubs going and her fans excited at her concerts. Much of the album contains heavy pop bangers which would definitely establish this beautiful young lady as a leading pop superstar in Europe and the rest of the world if her stars align. Other outstanding tracks include Tonight, Daylight Robbery and Oh La La.
Heartbreak on Hold is an energetic album and worth listening to, my only disappointment is the fact that she did not offer any more heartwarming ballads apart from the beautifully written What Money Can't Buy, because we all know she has such a huge vocal ability not to show it off, I don't think she needs to settle for dance direction in terms of her musical sound.
