Music Album: R.E.D by Ne-Yo

After the disappointing performance of his last album, Libra Scale. Ne-Yo took time out of recording music to raise his kids, film some movies and was also appointed Senior Vice President of A&R at Motown records - but with all these responsibilities the singer carved out time to record R.E.D (abbreviation for Realizing Every Dream) his inspirational new album that sees the singer continue to explore his pop and r&b sounds, even dabbling into a bit of country. He delivers some great songs which might enable him to redeem his fans that he lost with his previous effort.

Lazy Love is a seductive ballad that sees the singer croon about how being in the presence of his love interest makes him feel like doing nothing else but make love, as he sings '..that's when you wrap them legs around me, I fall victim to that Lazy Love'. He explores similar seductive r&b sounds on his hip hop influenced Should Be You (Featuring Fabolous and Diddy) and Stress Reliever. The highlights of the r&b songs he offers are the beautifully written introduction that is Cracks In Mr Perfect, My Other Gun and his ode to his daughter on Alone With You (Song for Maddie). On the pop side of things, he delivers excellently on the infectious Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself), Forever Now and the bonus track Burning Up. The stand out track of the album happens to be his country-laced duet with Tim McGraw - She Is.

R.E.D has returned Ne-Yo to the upper tier of music charts around the world. It is clear to see that he is still an amazing songwriter and whether he croons r&b ballads or pop dancefloor fillers - he knows his diverse audience and appeals to them all.
