Music Album: 21 by Adele

British music has it own lane and flavour, and very few british artists have been able to expand that flavour to the other side of the atlantic (USA and Canada). Adele is one of those few artists who have been able to capture an audience both home and across the atlantic. Her debut album was a bestseller in the USA and it won her two grammy awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Her rendition of Bob Dylan's Make You Feel My Love makes it way back into the charts especially when X-Factor season comes around.

After a 3 year break, she has returned with her brilliant sophomore album, 21. She continues to prove that she is one of the best singers in the UK, she also continues to go against the industry stereotypes who think sex sells. Yes sex does sell, but Adele is one of those artists who have maintained her plus-size figure while still being able to maintain and keep a loyal fanbase. The first single off the album, Rolling In The Deep did miss out on debuting atop the pinnacle of the UK charts, instead debuting at number 2, her vocals remain strong, captivating and makes you wonder why she was gone that long.

21 is one the road to becoming one of the most critically acclaimed albums of 2011. Throughout the album, Adele maintains a certain soulfulness that reminds you of Tina Turner or Aretha Franklin but is also able to deliver each song with a modern feel. I have and will always be a fan of Adele and even with just two albums in her career, I know there is still a lot of great music to be expected from her.

Turning Tables, Rumour Has It and Set Fire to the Rain are must-listens.
