Must-See Movies of the Moment

For those of you who are giving up on the movie scene and are wondering what good movies are out there to watch. Below, I have five amazing suggestions;

The Fighter- Starring Mark Wahlberg, Amy Adams, Christian Bale and Melissa Leo. In this riveting story about Micky Ward (Wahlberg)and his brother, Dicky Eklund (Bale) who trained him to become a pro- boxer. Christian Bale and Melissa Leo deliver excellent performances, it is no wonder that they are favourites to win Oscars for Supporting Actor and Actress.

The King's Speech- Starring Colin Firth, Geoffry Rush and Helen Bonham Carter. The touching story of King George IV's struggle with stammering and his ascension to the throne. One of the best movies that I have watched in a long time, it definitely deserves all the awards it is getting.

127 Hours- Starring James Franco, the amazing story of Aron Ralston who got stuck in a canyon for 127 Hours because his hand was caught in a rock. This a story of strength, patience and survival.

The Kids Are All Right- Starring Julianne Moore, Annette Bening and Mark Ruffalo. The story of a lesbian couple and their two kids that they birthed through sperm donation/artificial insemination. Now that their kids are old enough, the set out on a mission to find their father. Comedy with bits of drama.

Black Swan- Starring Natalie Portman. Story about the spiritual and unprecedented journey of a ballet dancer. I really do not get the hype around this film but I must admit that Natalie Portman gave an excellent performance.

Other Notable Mentions;

The Green Hornet- Starring Seth Rogen and Cameron Diaz. Superhero comedy that will sure get you laughing and annoyed at the same time. But when it comes to comedy.... Seth Rogen and Cameron Diaz? I think it worth it.

No Strings Attached- Starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher. Romcom about two best friends who start a sexual relationship. Its a typical storyline but still a great must-see.

Frankie and Alice- Starring Halle Berry. Story about a woman with personality disorder. Halle proved her acting talent in this movie but its a shame that there was no sex scene to garner her an oscar nomination.
