The 2010 Emmy Awards

Every year since 1949, the world comes together to celebrate the best in American Television and this has become known as THE EMMY AWARDS. While THE ACADEMY AWARDS honours outstanding performances in Film, THE GRAMMYS honour outstanding performances in Music and THE TONYS honour outstanding performances in stage/broadway, THE EMMYS honours outstanding performances in Television, celebrating primetime entertainment, sports, news and social media programmes.

The 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards was held on August 29, 2010 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and was hosted by Jimmy Fallon. The best in TV entertainment all came together in their flamboyant gowns and suave suits, to celebrate the best performances in TV for the past 12 months. Two TV programmes that were big winners (no surprise to me!) were GLEE, MODERN FAMILY and MAD MEN. Glee merges music and comedy to give us one of the most interesting TV programmes in the world right now, and Mad Men boasts of some of the most dramatic story lines that I have seen since Grey's Anatomy, so it is no surprise that both programmes were multiple winners that night. I was however disappointed that TRUE BLOOD did not win any accolades (may be due to its highly sexual scenes).

An award show cannot be discussed, if we do not discuss the fashion. Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives), Claire Danes, Anna Paqin (True Blood) and Lea Michele (Glee) heat up the red carpet with their individual gown choices, they looked beautiful and classy. John Hamm (Mad Men), Stephen Moyer (Ture Blood), LL Cool J (NCIS: Los Angeles), Jimmy Fallon and George Clooney looked dapper and suave in their suits.

The show was very interesting and I think Jimmy Fallon did a wonderful job as host, the opening skit by the Glee cast, Betty White and other TV celebrities was a fantastic and funny, I think it was well put together. I think all the winners were well-deserving of the awards.
