The 2010 MTV European Music Awards were held in Madrid this year. I was excited because two artists that I respect so much were nominated (Lady Gaga and Plan B) and the show was going to be hosted by one of the sexiest women in the world, Eva Longoria. Eva displays a very funny sense of humour in her movies and TV projects, so I actually thought she was going to do a fantastic job but apart from her skit with Dizzy Rascal, her 13 wardrobe changes and Katy Perry smacking her bum, she was more about sexing up the show, as oppose to being a fantastic host.
The night was all about music that has rocked Europe within the past year and it was no surprise that Lady Gaga was the big winner of the night (winning best female, best pop and best song), her album THE FAME, has been on every major european chart non-consecutively for over 60 weeks. Other winners included of course, Eminem (winning best hip hop), Paramore, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry.
The show boasted of some hot performances. Katy Perry did a fantastic job performing her new hit song Firework, B.o.B and Hayley Williams of Paramore performed their worldwide smash Airplanes and Plan B did an amazing job by mellowing down the energy of the room with his hit song She Said, though he did not get a lot of cheers which maybe due to the fact that the world is just getting to know him, he did an amazing job nonetheless. Linkin Park always give adrenaline-filled performances. Miley Cyrus had good vocals but she totally oversexed her performance, she looked more like a stripper as opposed to a teen-singer. Rihanna performed her worldwide smash Only Girl (In The World) the stage designing and how good the flowers would have smelled were the only good things about her performance. Kesha took *nonsense* to a whole nother level with her ridiculous outfits (both on and off stage).
Fashion-wise Rihanna and Plan B stole the show for me.... They came looking elegant and classy, ready to enjoy what the night had to offer. With the hot host, performances and good music to celebrate, the 2010 EMAs was a must-watch but it was definitely not the the best show. Find the complete list of winners below;
