Music Album: LP1 by Joss Stone

If there is one singer that the critics love, its Joss Stone. Over the years, the British songbird has released commercial flops but each of those albums have won her critical acclaim. She always invited to exclusive event to perform and she is loved by many music executives in the industry, so it comes as no surprise that despite the commercial-less power of her music, she is still recognised as one of the powerful soulful voices in the music business.

It has been a year of ups and downs for Joss Stone. She was featured on Ricky Martins critically acclaimed Spanglish album Musica Alma Sexo and an assassination attempt was made on her life. Through it all, who knew that she was busy in the studio working on an album. The end result of all that emotion and hardwork comes in form of LP1. In an atmosphere where everyone lives in Adele-mania, this album lacks the potential to match albums of similar musical direction that has been released this year.

LP1 is a great album, its her sound, a sound she has realised works for her and hence why she sticks to it. Not trying to be complacent with her beauty, she is one of those singers whose music is a reflection of her talent and not the money-making machine that record labels would have wanted her to be. Crying Myself to Sleep, Don't Start Lying To Me Now and Karma are the highlights of this album.
