We all know that Kanye West has become one of the biggest superstars in the world, with multi-platinum albums and numerous grammys. We also know about the Taylor Swift incident last year that made the world turn their back on him, but even though some of us did not like what he did, we stuck by him and rode with him till the end. Now Kanye is back with a vengeance, with an album that maybe considered a classic by many. In my opinion it is his most creative album, if not his best.
Its feels so good to hear him rapping again, he merges his rhymes with a backing choir of some sort on Dark Fantasy producing one of the album distinctive tracks. He also cooks up some brilliant songs and some amazing collaborations on the album, the emotionally-charged Blame Game(featuring John Legend), the amazing features on So Appalled and Monster, and the Rick Ross assisted Devil In A New Dress. The marching band instrumented All Of The Lights will easily become a massive hit not only because of the thumping beat but with Rihanna singing hook, it will easily go up the charts (Urban or Pop). He took creativity and rhyming to another level on Power and Runaway (for which he created amazing visual experiences with their music videos). Another track that stands out on the album is Lost In The World.
He is cocky, he is arrogant, we can say whatever we want about Kanye but we cannot shy away from the fact that he has one of the most creative minds in the world. Listen to this album or any of his previous ones and you will understand the brilliance behind his music. He merges research and culture with music, fashion and visuals, thereby making his music have substance. Kanye is back with a bang with this one, it goes to show that no pretty and talented country singing pop star could hold him down. In the words of the man himself "let's get back to the music".
