Music Album: Basic Instinct by Ciara

When Ciara hits the stage, she is guaranteed to put on an unforgettable show, that is with her dancing and not necessarily her singing. Her last album did not perform as well as she and her fans had hoped and then she said with her next album she was going back to her basic instinct (i.e the direction of her debut album Goodies), but bringing the direction of a 2004 album into 2010 might not really be a good idea.

Ride (featuring Ludacris), the albums first single came out with a bang and a must-watch video of the song came out too, it was so hot that even BET had to ban it from rotation. Gimme Dat the electrifying second single is definitely one track that will have the clubs going crazy. The rest of the album contains sexy ballads like the love declaring Speechless where she sings "I need one extra day on the week, one extra hour on the clock just to tell you how beautiful you are... I need an extra month on the year, one extra holiday just to kiss you all over your face...", The Dream and Tricky Stewart were at their best producing and penning this song. Other sexy songs that make this album interesting are You Can Get It and Wants For Dinner. A Ciara album won't be complete if she did not include some dance records, a move which I think was more about following the trend of the music industry as oppose to being artistically smart. The thought of Usher and Ciara on one track gives me chills, but Turn It Up should only be kept turned down. Girls Get Your Money is totally unnecessary and I think it should not have made the album, it should be one of those songs that Ciara could play at her slumber parties with Kim Kardashian and Lala Vasquez.

Overall, I think Ciara's voice as really improved especially when she sings ballads and I still have so much belief in her that she is able to be one of the world's greatest performers because in order to enjoy Ciara, you need to see what she can do live (dance-wise). If you are going to listen to this album, you will be more interested in the ballads. I hope Ciara gets back to her senses and is able to return to the creative mind she was in when she recorded The Evolution album, because she is still off track with this one.
