Movies of the Moment

Transformers: Dark of The Moon: The third instalment in the popular movie franchise returns with more action-packed drama. Michael Bay went all out to deliver the most intense action scenes since the iconic comic/cartoon series became a box-office money maker. Megan Fox was replaced with Rosie Huntington-Whitley, and I must say Megan was not really missed. The battle between the Autobots and the Deceptacons rages on this movie, and at a point where we thought that the Deceptacons might finally win, the tag-team between the Autobots and humans prove superior in the end.

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows II: The final instalment in the iconic movie franchise returned with fascinating wand activity and intense fight scenes. In true Harry Potter fashion, the depiction of fantasy and breathtaking imagery of a fictional destination reign supreme once again in this movie. The long awaited battle between Voldermort and Harry Potter finally arrives and at first seems like the Dark Lord will finally win, but it would not be a memorable story if Harry had to die.

Friends With Benefits: I have a newfound respect for Justin Timberlake after his role in the Social Network, and I also have a deep admiration for Mila Kunis for role in the Black Swan. However, their characters in this romantic-comedy are a vast contrast from their award-winning performances. Though, I have always praised Justin for his comedic work on Saturday Night Live and the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, also Mils Kunis’ role in the iconic That 70’s Show. I feel like I have seen this movie before... anyone remember No Strings Attached (starring Kunis’s previous cast mates, Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman)

Captain America: The First Avenger: Unlike Ryan Reynold’s appalling portrayal of the Green Lantern, Chirs Evans proves that he still has the skill to play a superhero and delivers a more than average performance of Captain America. Though I believe the storyline could have been a lot more interesting, nonetheless, it is still a good movie and Evans portrayal of the First Avenger was quite impressive, infact it has got me longing for another Fantastic 4 movie.

Cowboys and Aliens: Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, along with Olivia Wilde return to our movie screens in one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Although, the movie has been panned by movie critics, it seems to be going down well with fans as it has racked up some profit at the box-office. A battle between cowboys and aliens?... sounds interesting doesn’t it? Why not give it a try.

The Rise of the Planet of the Apes: James Franco, Freda Pinto and Harry Potter alum, Tom Felton star in the updated version of Planet of the Apes. A story about the scientific experiment on apes to make them intelligent and like in all animal-related science projects gone wrong, things do no go as expected. Amazing fiction, captivating visuals and impressive acting from the cast, this movie was considered an underdog but it might just prove to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the year.

The Smurfs: I have been waiting for this movie, because I believe tiny, blue characters are awesome. Starring Neil Patrick Harris and Katy Perry (who voices Lady Smurf), it is a pretty interesting animated movie, that requires a huge amount of humour to enjoy. Kids will love it and adults will too if they lower their expectations and try to enjoy it.
