Music Album: Planet Pit by Pitbull

Very few latin musicians have been able to garner crossover appeal and eventually become mainstream superstars. Pitbull is one of those latin stars who in the past two years has been able to score hit singles that have crossed over to pop charts and even garner international success. After the success of worldwide smashes, I Know You Want Me and Hotel Room Service. He scored more hit singles with Enrique Iglesias (I Like It), Usher (DJ Got Us Falling In Love Again) and Jennifer Lopez (On The Floor). He finally offers us another collection of fun, pop rhythms influenced by his latin roots in form of an album he calls Planet Pit.

The album was kicked off with Hey Baby (Drop It to the Floor) featuring T-Pain, which quickly became an instant top-ten hit worldwide. Following his string of hits, Pitbull was confident that he had what it took to become one of the world’s contemporary hitmakers. He released what he calls the official first single, Give Me Everything (Featuring Ne-Yo and Afrojack) which has gone on to top charts all over Europe and became another top-ten hit for him in America. From beginning to end, Planet Pit contains a string of dancefloor fillers, the beats are very heavy and make use of a lot of horns and snares. You can literally feel your head about to explode, because thats how infectious the instrumentals are. He also managed to score a slew of high profile collaborations, a list that includes Chris Brown, Kelly Rowland, Sean Paul, Will.I.Am, Ludacris and a host of others.

The album is perfect for a night on the town or for a 2-hour gym session, because the music is very fun and infectious, you are likely to stay wild awake and motivated. Although in some ways it can be pretty exhaustive just because of how heavy the beats are. Without moving too far from his latin roots, Pitbull offers an explosive album that will be perfect for the state of the music industry at the moment. There are so many radio friendly songs on this album, so I will not be surprised if he gets to add more top-ten singles to his already impressive catalogue. He is gradually becoming a force in industry, I wouldn’t be surprised if he eclipses Enrique’s popularity. Castle Made of Sound (Featuring Kelly Rowland and Jamie Drastik) and Rain Over Me (Featuring Marc Anthony) are must-listens.
