Music Album: Take Care by Drake

Its still hard to believe that Drake is barely 5 years into the music business, but he seems to had made more of an impact on the hip hop industry than those that were in it before him. Its hard not to find Drake being featured on your favourite song, the only other two that might be featured more than he is are his label-mates Lil' Wayne and Nicki Minaj. After the success of his grammy nominated mixtape, So Far Gone and his international breakthrough album, Thank Me Later, he finally returns to the music industry with his sophomore effort, Take Care. Despite a number of album push backs and date changes, Drake still manages to deliver a solid effort and has managed to score the 3rd best selling 1st week sales of the year in the USA.

In my opinion, Drake manages to maintain the creative direction that made his debut album a stellar must-have and it will be no surprise that this album will be well received because only Drake can do what he does so well. The fact that he sings, he writes and he raps will make him a strong versatile force in the industry. From the hard basses and strings on songs like Headlines, Lord Knows (Featuring Rick Ross), We'll Be Fine (featuring Birdman) and Make Me Proud (Featuring Nicki Minaj) to the soft-spoken style singing he offers on Marvin's Room-Buried Alive, Shots For Me and The Real Her(Featuring Lil' Wayne and Andre 3000), he gives his legion of hip-hop and r&b fans a bit of everything that they want. Though his duet with Rihanna (Take Care) is not the best song on the album, it manages to stand out to me because it is sort of out of his comfort zone and sounds like something only Kanye West would come up with.

Overall, Take Care is a solid sophomore effort, the only criticism I have is that it maintains the same artistic direction that inspired his debut album. His level of artistry will no doubt continue to make him a point of contact in music and win him over a dedicated fan base., he has mastered his style and no one will do it better than him. I'm still a fan!
