Music Album: Self Made Vol. 2 by Maybach Music Group

At different points in time, there comes one hip-hop super-group that rules urban airwaves and in some cases these super-groups or crews crossover to gain mainstream popularity. In the early 2000s we had Roc-A-Fella, Flip Mode Squad, Ruff Ryders and Murder Inc, most recently we have had the Young Money Cash Money clan, but it seems like the crew ruling now is Maybach Music Group led by hip-hop boss Rick Ross and he brings with him some talented rap young ones like Wale, Stalley and Meek Mill, recently added to the crew was r&b heartthrob Omarion. The conglomerate delivers one of the most enjoyable hip-hop albums that I have heard this year.

Mainly containing bass heavy hip-hop beats and different levels of delivery from all the rappers on the album, Omarion does his job by bringing a bit of r&b sweetness to make for the perfect blend of hip-hop and r&b. Wale, Rick Ross and Meek Mill (Featuring T-Pain) deliver the automatic hit of the album on Bag of Money. Omarion diffuses the album with some r&b flavour on the Notorious BIG sampled Let's Talk, which also features the iconic rapper, and M.I.A (Featuring Wale). Other note-worthy tracks include The Zenith, Power Circle and Bury Me a G and All Birds, the latter two where Ross shines solo.

Self-Made 2 is undoubtedly one of the biggest albums to be released this year and it gives us a glimpse into the world of how Rick Ross runs and manages a group of hip hop young ones who will be ruling the airwaves in the next few years to come before another super-group develops to get their own share of mainstream popularity.
