Movie: The Karate Kid (2010)

THE KARATE KID, after seeing little Jaden Smith's performance in The Pursuit of Happiness, I honestly thought "awwww, such a cute child enjoying the benefits of his fathers limelight and celebrity power". But after watching the Karate Kid, I realized even though he might have taken his fathers looks and talent, he is a child actor trying to find his own lane and I think he did that perfectly. Playing a kid who lost his father and had to pack up his life in Detroit, USA to move to China because his mum (played by Taraji P. Henson) found career prospects there. The movie follows him on how he tried to cope with his new life and covers issues ranging from child crushes to coping with bullies, finding interest in something while building the determination and drive to make sure that you achieve your goals. Mr Han (played by Jackie Chan) was the the father and mentor figure in place to help Jadens' character in discovering his true self, by teaching him how to channel karate into life and overcoming his fear , but it was more of a mutual-beneficial relationship as Jackie Chan's character was suffering from issues in his past and all he needed was that someone to let him know that everything was okay and this was what Jaden's character did.

Karate Kid is full of comedy, mild action and drama, in fact it is dramatic enough to almost make you cry. A recommended watch for people of all ages. The Karate Kid will teach you to overcome your fears and and to see things through and if you are on a mission to discover yourself and achieve your goals, use the people who can help you and be determined.

The Karate Kid is in cinemas worldwide.
