Music Album: Love Me Back by Jazmine Sullivan

Jazmine Sullivan's debut album did not only make her a distinct voice in the r&b world, it also made the world take note of her unique songwriting skills (think of her songs Dream Big or Lions and Tigers and Bears). Not only did she go on to pen songs for artists like Mary J. Blige and Monica, her debut album earned her multiple grammy nominations. On the announcement of her sophomore album, Love Me Back, not only was I estatic but I was confident that it would be a solid album and believe me when I say that she did not disappoint.

With her ability to merge old school r&b and hip-hop with contemporary production and also adding her skills with the pen, Jazmine might have just given us the best r&b songs of 2010 and arguably a lifetime. With her deep, raspy voice she sings about being cheated on and being heartbroken on Holding You Down (Going in Circles) and 10 Seconds, not only does she sing both songs so well that you can actually feel the pain in her voice, but the coordination of the lyrics make them sound like nothing we have been hearing on the radio in recent time.

The album is filled with songs about love, heartache and inspiration. Must listens include Famous, You Get On My Nerves (duet with Ne-Yo), Good Enough and Stuttering. By always trying to merge generations with her music, she might just have another grammy contender on her hands.
