2011 Billboard Music Awards

After a 5 year hiatus, the Billboad Music Awards finally returned to US Television to record ratings, due to numerous celebrity attendees, and pretty good performances. This year also happened to be filled with a number of comedic sketches that featured Nicki Minaj and even a usually conservative Nas. Ken Jeong of the Hangover movies played host, even though he managed to totally dedicate himself musically and mentally to the job at hand, his performance was bit more than average.

Beyonce, who was scheduled to receive the Billboard Millennium award for her outstanding success throughout her career, also managed to give a breath-taking performance of her new single Run The World (Girls) to standing ovation from both fans and other celebrities, in fact many others sent their commendations and raves over twitter, she also decided to thank her entire family including her husband while receiving her award, presented to her by her mother. Other performers that managed to put an average show were Rihanna and Britney Spears (S&M remix), the latter who also took to the stage again to perform with Nicki Minaj (Superbass/Till The World Ends (remix)) , the Black Eyed Peas did a medley of hits which made their performance a bit exhausting. One Republic, Pitbull and Ne-Yo also delivered not-so-stellar performances. Surprisingly, Ke$ha did an amazing job performing her full-of-energy hit (Blow), while not-so-surprisingly Mary J Blige and Lil’ Wayne delivered an outstanding performance of the former’s new single, Someone To Love Me (Naked).

Teen heartthrob, Justin Bieber and rap extraordinaire, Eminem tied for the most awards won that night, while legendary singer, Neil Diamond was given special recognition for his outstanding contribution to music.
