Katy B has found her way into the UK urban music scene. After ruling the charts with her hit songs Lights On (featuring Ms Dynamite) and the album title track, On A Mission. With two hit singles, she achieved two things, first, she has become a major superstar and two, she might have just revived Ms Dynamite's career.
On A Mission, is an amazing collection of songs that explore the funky house genre of music, that is mostly popular in the UK music scene and in some parts of Europe. Her voice sounds so light and refreshing and she delivers each song with a certain sweetness and innocence. Apart from the two singles, Katy reigns supreme as an artist on songs like Broken Record, Perfect Stranger and Power On Me.
As a debut artist, I think this album has solidified her an artist to watch and take note of, she may not have the international appeal that Jessie J has been able to secure but she holds her own and is able to maintain the reputation she has built for herself. In addition, I think I can praise her for once again bringing garage music to the top of the charts.
