Music Album: Passion, Pain & Pleasure by Trey Songz

In a world where people once thought that Omarion and Chris Brown were the only youngsters that could hold on to the r&b industry, somewhere out there a man called Trey Songz was busy waiting for his time to shine, but little did we know he was going to rule. Last year, Trey Songz released his third album READY, the album introduced us to a new person, he cut off his braids and got a more buff body. He also created a musical experience that earned him numerous female fans and earned him respect from male fans as well, with his hit songs Say Aah, Successful, LOL :) and Neighbours Know My Name.

After going on tour with Jay-Z on the North American leg of his BP3 tour, Trey found time to still get into the studio to record his new album and he hit the road again on his Passion, Pain and Pleasure tour with Monica to promote the album and made sure that his fans got to hear some of the songs before its release. This album follows the same direction as his previous album but he is still able to produce a good listening experience.

LOVE FACES is a must-listen as he croons on the chrous "Tonight we'll be making love faces, making love faces...Shadows on the wall while the candles burning, Messin' up the bed while you sweatin' out your perm and making love faces, making love faces...", it proves itself to be a good love/sex song. CAN'T BE FRIENDS, the second single from the album is another outstanding track on the album where he sings about having something intimate with a friend and realizes that they have to be more than friends if they have had something intimate or end their friendship if they can't. RED LIPSTICK and ALONE are songs that aim at appreciating and loving your woman. BLIND and PLEASE RETURN MY CALL follow the traditional r&b route, in the latter he sings about the eagerness to hear from his love after doing her wrong. You will find out that this album follows the same direction as READY, because some of his songs sound re-manufactured, the first single BOTTOMS UP (Say Aah), UNFORTUNATE (Successful) and UNUSUAL (Black Roses).

Apart from the unnecessary intro and interludes that interrupt the session and the somewhat repetitiveness of the album, Trey has produced a wonderful listening experience as the album touches on love, heartbreak, having fun and sex. In an industry being taken over by contemporary sound, it is interesting that real r&b can still make its way to the forefront of the music industry. This album will definitely mend some unions and break some relationships.
