Music Album: Open Invitation by Tyrese

Its been almost six years since Tyrese released his ill-received album, Alter Ego. In that time, he spent time building up his acting resume by starring in Box Office smash films that include the Transformers and Fast and Furious franchises. In addition to his movie star career, he also managed to become a best selling author with his book "How To Get Out of Your Own Way" which has received rave reviews. With such a busy schedule, I personally began to think music would become a historic part of his career, but he suddenly announced that he would be releasing an album independently and it would be an r&b album, that collection of work has come in the form of Open Invitation.

The album starts with the opening track I'm Home(featuring Jay Rock), where Tyrese apologizes to fans for the long wait and his depature from music with lines like "They say you been gone for a minute, Aint nobody else did it like you did it, well tell them that I'm home, tell them I'm home, been back like I never left". The album then delves into the infectious and sexy I Gotta Chick (Featuring Rick Ross and R.Kelly) a song where Ty appreciates the fact he has a chick that loves him. Majority of the album contains the r&b sound that made Tyrese a music star and what made us all fall in love with his raspy, soulful voice. Stay, Make Love, Its All On Me, Nothing On You and One Night are the songs on the album that would surely make you appreciate the fact that even though he took a hiatus from music, he was able to come back with some strong songs.

Without a doubt, Tyrese is a multi-talented artist with a multi-faceted career, but I think this album has reminded us and even him that music feels so natural with him. With this album, I can honestly say that he has created music that will last a lifetime, I see myself 20 years from now listening to this album. I'm so thankful for this open invitation because I wouldn't have wanted to miss out on some feel-good music.
